Care about the lives of the younger generation

By including the Emma Children's Hospital in your will, you are giving a future to our youngest generation.

At the Emma Children’s Hospital, staff work tirelessly day in, day out to care for the very youngest children. Funding is essential to ensure we can continue to do so. Including Stichting Steun Emma Kinderziekenhuis in your will therefore makes a significant and lasting difference.

Let your ideals live on

Some choices go beyond the moment. They say something about who you are, what you stand for and what you want to pass on to the next generation. By leaving a legacy to the Emma Children’s Hospital, you give seriously ill children something of inestimable value: a better chance of recovery, a better quality of life and hope for the future. This way, your ideals will live on.

Why leave a bequest to the Emma?

Thanks to the enormous advances in paediatrics, the vast majority of children with a serious or chronic illness now reach adulthood. That is a major achievement. At the same time, these advances raise a new and urgent question: what kind of life lies ahead after hospital?

Full member of society

Children are our future. When a child is seriously ill, it affects not only the family, but also everything that lies ahead for them. Because care does not end with the final treatment. Quality of life, both during their stay at the Emma and afterwards, is essential. Can the patient attend school, play sport at a club, have a part-time job, make friends and explore their limits? In short, can they develop as a person and find their own place in society?.

"Without the incredible kindness and generosity of the people of Amsterdam, I might have lost my children. I would like to show my gratitude by leaving a legacy."

How do you leave a legacy to the Emma?

Many people choose to leave their estate to the Emma as a whole. This allows us to allocate resources where they are most urgently needed at any given time. At the same time, we understand that some people would like to specify how their wishes are to be carried out. Within the Emma, there are various possible causes to support, all of which are consistent with the hospital’s broader mission.

Whatever you choose, Stichting Steun Emma Kinderziekenhuis will ensure that your estate is administered carefully, transparently and in accordance with your wishes.

Good to know
Completely tax-free due to ANBI status

Stichting Steun Emma Kinderziekenhuis has ANBI status. This means that bequests to the Emma are exempt from inheritance tax. As a result, 100% of your estate will go towards supporting children’s care. It is a comforting thought: everything you leave behind will be used entirely for the cause that is important to you.

Personal guidance

A conversation about leaving a legacy is about meaning. It’s about what matters to you and what you wish to pass on. That’s why we take all the time you need. We listen, think things through with you and answer your questions in a calm and confidential manner. Whether you already have specific wishes or are just beginning to consider your options, you are very welcome to come and discuss this with us.

Your trust is our responsibility

When you include the Emma in your will, you are entrusting us with something precious. We take that trust extremely seriously. Stichting Steun Emma Kinderziekenhuis ensures that every bequest is administered with care, transparency and respect.

In this way, your commitment becomes part of something greater: a future in which seriously ill children receive the best possible care in Amsterdam and far beyond, both now and for generations to come.

The Emma Children’s Hospital is there for children who, through no choice of their own, are forced to spend part of their childhood in hospital. Every day, doctors, nurses, researchers and carers work towards a single goal: to provide every child with the best possible care, both today and tomorrow. Thanks to people who include the Emma in their wills, that care can continue to develop.

The story of Marja

"After 35 years of working in childcare not including the Emma in my will unthinkable for me"

On the Paediatric ICU I saw fear, uncertainty and sadness on a daily basis. But above all, hope. And rightly so, because the care we provide is fantastic.

Kathy's story

"The hospital's good care has looked after three generations"

In the 1970s, I gave birth to twins in the Emma six weeks prematurely. They were cared for with an incredible amount of love.

The story of Ramon

"The foundation enables research that would otherwise never get off the ground"

The research we are doing now will cure children I will never meet. When I am eighty, the doctors working here then can build on the knowledge we are acquiring now.

The story of Hugo

"Recovery involves so much more than just pills and treatments"

It is a wonderful feeling to realise that in paediatrics you can help future generations take a step that was previously impossible.
